Ustadh Shamaas Nyazee was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He attended Islamic school until 8th grade. He then went to Parkway West High school from which he graduated in 2009. He had plans of going to college, but all that changed due to the effort made by Mufti Minhaj on the youth of St. Louis.
After high school Shamaas decided to take a year off before college to Memorize the Qur’an. He finished the memorization of the Qur’an with Shaykh Haroon at Darul Qur’an Foundation in January 2010 in a span of about 8 months. With the mercy of Allah and with the advice of his teachers, he decided to further expand his horizon and pursue the Prophetic Knowledge.
In September of that same year, he travelled to Pakistan to study at Jamia Hasnain Faisalabad. The jamia was started by renowned scholar and orator, Shaykh Tariq Jamil. There he studied for six years under senior teachers such as Shaykh Ramzi Al Habib, Shaykh Ubaidullah, Mufti Ahmed Ali and Maulana Tariq Jamil himself. In between breaks he would come and attend summer courses to complete some undergraduate studies. After graduating in 2016 at the top of his class, he returned to America and is now teaching subjects that include but are not limited to: Rhetoric (Balagah), Seerah, Islamic Jurisprudence, Principles of Jurisprudence and Arabic literature at Madrasah Tul Hussnain in Indianapolis, IN.
